NEW EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY!

Culpeper Baptist Church 250
1774-2024

The quest for religious freedom in America and guaranteeing the right to worship in the in the way of one’s choosing was a revolutionary idea – an idea in which Virginia played an important role.

The museum’s latest exhibit, developed and installed by Culpeper Baptist Church, tells the story of the role played by Baptist missionaries in Culpeper in our country’s struggle for religious freedom.  Learn about this important event and the other ways in which Culpeper Baptist has supported our community in its 250 years of ministry and service.

NORMAN’S GROCERY MARKER DEDICATION

Saturday, April 20, 1:00 PM

Join us for the dedication of the first in the Museum of Culpeper History’s series of Culpeper County historic markers at Norman’s Grocery. The public is invited to commemorate this family-owned African-American business that has been in operation for over 125 years!

Norman’s Grocery is located at 9496 Sperryville Pike. Parking is available on the adjoining property east of Norman’s Grocery. Please park along the driveway at 9518 Sperryville Pike entering to the south of 522 and just east of Norman’s Grocery. From there it is a short walk to the ceremony site. Plan on arriving by 12:45 to allow plenty of time to park and walk to the Norman’s Grocery historical marker site.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

Are you interested in local, state, or national history? Do you like teaching and sharing information? Do you enjoy meeting new people every day?

The Museum of Culpeper History is seeking volunteers to help with its daily operations and ongoing programs. Our volunteers allow us to put visitors in touch with the story of Culpeper’s past every day, seven days a week. Without their hard work and support, we would not be able to do the work we do!
